Pekanbaru, September 26 – Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FP USU), Dr. Rulianda Purnomo Wibowo, S.P., M.Ec., attended and opened the Inauguration and Reunion of the IKA FP USU Riau Region for the 2026–2030 Period, held at Hotel Pangeran, Pekanbaru, on Saturday (September 26, 2026).
The presence of the Dean of FP USU was an important part of the series of activities that brought together alumni of the Faculty of Agriculture USU who have been working in various fields in Riau Province. In addition to opening the event, Dr. Rulianda also delivered remarks emphasizing the importance of building increasingly strong relationships between alumni and their alma mater.
In his remarks, Dr. Rulianda expressed his hope that the existence of IKA FP USU would not only serve as a forum for maintaining relationships but could also develop into a strategic partner for the faculty. According to him, alumni have great potential because they have taken roles in various sectors, including industry, government, business, academia, and other professional fields.
“We hope there will be collaboration between the alumni and FP USU, both in roles in industry, government, and various other fields, so that they can become strong partners as the FP USU alumni association,” said Dr. Rulianda.
Furthermore, he stated that the experience and networks possessed by alumni could become a strength in supporting the development of the Faculty of Agriculture USU. Collaboration could be directed toward various areas, including strengthening learning, developing student competencies, research, community service, developing employment networks, and opportunities for cooperation with the industrial and government sectors.
The inauguration of the new management is expected to further strengthen the role of the IKA FP USU Riau Region in building communication between alumni and the faculty. Sustainable relationships are also expected to generate various forms of contributions to the alma mater and society.
The inauguration and reunion took place in a family-like atmosphere and was attended by alumni from various generations. The series of activities provided an opportunity to strengthen the ties between graduates and their alma mater after the alumni had pursued careers and contributed in various fields.
The activity was also attended by the Chairperson of the Central IKA USU, Dr. KH. Romo R. Muhammad Syafi’i, S.H., M.Hum.; the faculty leadership, heads of study programs, and lecturers within the Faculty of Agriculture USU; government representatives; alumni organization administrators; and USU alumni from various backgrounds.
The spirit of strengthening relationships between alumni and their alma mater was in line with the theme of the activity, “Synergy among USU Alumni in Riau, Making Meaningful Contributions to the Nation.” Through stronger synergy, IKA FP USU is expected to become part of a network that supports the advancement of the faculty while expanding alumni contributions to society.
Strengthening collaboration between higher education institutions and alumni also supports SDG 4 on Quality Education and SDG 17 on Partnerships for the Goals.
