USU's 2023 DRTPM program improves shrimp paste production, quality, and marketability in Desa Pulau Kampai through drying and hygienic packaging mechanization.

The 2023 Community Partnership Empowerment Scheme (DRTPM) Community Service Program with the title "Mechanization of Drying and Hygienic Packaging of Shrimp Paste to Improve Production, Quality, and Marketability in Desa Pulau Kampai, Pangkalan Susu, Langkat Regency, North Sumatra Province" has been successfully implemented. This program focused on the application of appropriate technology to assist the Atha Baroe Household Industry Group, which specializes in shrimp paste production. By introducing mechanization for drying and hygienic packaging, the program aimed to enhance production efficiency, improve product quality, and expand the market reach of their products, both locally and nationally.

The Community Service Team from Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) included Astrid Fauzia Dewinta, S.St.Pi., M.Si., Vindy Rilani Manurung, S.Pi., M.P., and Putri Chandra Ayu, S.T.P., M.Si. During the program, the team provided training to the members of the Atha Baroe Household Industry Group on modern and hygienic shrimp paste processing techniques. Additionally, this initiative aimed to empower the local community by leveraging technology to add value to their products. The full documentation of the program can be viewed on the YouTube channel of the Faculty of Agriculture, USU.
