Medan, 31 July 2026 – The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FP USU), welcomed the Regent of West Nias, Dr. Eliyunus Waruwu, S.Pt., M.Si., M.M., on Friday (31 July 2026) at the Dean’s Meeting Room of FP USU to discuss potential areas of cooperation between FP USU and the West Nias Regency Government.
The meeting marked an initial step toward building stronger synergy in human resource development and the agricultural sector in West Nias Regency. During the meeting, FP USU expressed its readiness to support various collaborative programs, including joint educational initiatives, student internship programs, collaborative research, and community service activities.

This collaboration is expected to bring together FP USU’s academic expertise and the region’s development needs, particularly in enhancing human resource capacity, developing agricultural innovations, strengthening institutions, and empowering communities.
Through well-planned and sustainable cooperation, the Faculty of Agriculture, USU, and the West Nias Regency Government are expected to develop programs that are relevant to regional needs and provide tangible benefits for agricultural development and the well-being of the people of West Nias Regency.
This collaboration also contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 2: Zero Hunger through agricultural sector development and food security; SDG 4: Quality Education through improving the quality of education and developing human resource capacity; SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth through enhancing community competencies and productivity; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through strengthening partnerships between higher education institutions and local government.
