The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara, welcomed a visit from Kijami Table CEO Sohee Eom to discuss potential international collaboration in education, community engagement, and farmer empowerment. The meeting also covered plans for a visit by students from several Korean universities to Aceh and the Faculty of Agriculture USU as part of a learning program on climate change and sustainable agriculture.

The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), welcomed a visit from Sohee Eom, Chief Executive Officer of Kijami Table, on May 21, 2026, at the Dean’s Meeting Room of the Faculty of Agriculture USU.

Dr. Rulianda Purnomo Wibowo, S.P., M.Ec., Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture USU, extended a warm welcome and expressed enthusiasm for the potential collaboration between the Faculty and Kijami Table.

"The Faculty of Agriculture USU will support all facilities required for the implementation of this collaboration. We will also contribute through community service activities involving both lecturers and students during the field visit program for Korean students in Aceh," he stated.

During the meeting, Sohee Eom explained that Kijami Table is a social technology startup and environmentally friendly coffee brand, known for its “Decarbon Coffee” initiative, which focuses on empowering farmers in developing countries.

"In 2026, Kijami Table will facilitate a visit by 25 students from several universities in Korea. These students will spend ten days in July–August 2026 studying climate change case studies affecting coffee farmers in Takengon, Aceh," said Sohee.

She further explained that the Korean students would also visit the Faculty of Agriculture USU for two days to participate in sharing and discussion sessions with students from the Faculty.

Also attending the meeting were the Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, Cooperation, and Internationalization, Dr. Ir. Posma Mangasi Pintaria Marbun, M.P., as well as members of the Dean’s advisory staff.

The proposed collaboration discussed during the visit is expected to be successfully implemented and generate positive impacts for both parties. Furthermore, it is anticipated to contribute to the internationalization goals of the Faculty of Agriculture USU by strengthening academic exchange, cross-cultural learning, and international cooperation in the fields of climate change adaptation, sustainable agriculture, and community development.
