Medan, October 2, 2026 – The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FP USU), and PTPN IV Regional 1 officially established cooperation in implementing a student internship program through soybean planting activities on PTPN IV Regional 1 land. The cooperation was marked by the signing of a contract by the Dean of FP USU, Dr. Rulianda Purnomo Wibowo, S.P., M.Ec., as the representative of FP USU.

This internship program serves as a platform for FP USU students, including students from the Study Program Outside the Main Campus (PSDKU), to gain direct experience in soybean cultivation activities in the field. The program also includes learning and practical activities in accordance with the fields specified in the cooperation agreement.

Vice Dean I of FP USU, Dr. Nini Rahmawati, S.P., M.Si., stated that the students who will participate in the program have been prepared, including two students from PSDKU who are ready to depart. Meanwhile, PTPN IV Regional 1 will guide the students through an online meeting as part of the preparations before the field activities are implemented.

During the program, each student visit and activity will be documented through reports according to their respective fields. PTPN IV Regional 1 also stated that soybean planting activities had been carried out and would continue alongside the implementation of the FP USU student internship program.

This cooperation is expected to strengthen practice-based learning and provide students with real-world experience in managing agricultural commodities. In addition to supporting SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) through the development of food commodities and SDG 4 (Quality Education) through field-based learning experiences, the collaboration between FP USU and PTPN IV Regional 1 also supports SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through strengthening partnerships between higher education institutions and the plantation sector.
