The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FP USU), welcomed students from Universiti Malaya as part of the 4th TALENTA-Agricultural Summer Course 2026 on Friday (October 2, 2026) in Classroom 1 of FP USU. This activity was part of an academic learning and experience exchange agenda that brought together students from Universiti Malaya and FP USU.

A total of 53 students from Universiti Malaya, together with FP USU students registered as participants of the 4th TALENTA-Agricultural Summer Course 2026, participated in the agenda. The activity was also attended by the Dean of FP USU, Dr. Rulianda Purnomo Wibowo, S.P., M.Ec.; Head of the Undergraduate Program in Agrotechnology, Prof. Dr. Diana Sofia Hanafiah, S.P., M.P.; Secretary of the Undergraduate Program in Agrotechnology, Hafnes Wahyuni, S.P., M.P.; Head of the Undergraduate Program in Food Technology, Ridwansyah, S.T.P., M.Si.; Secretary of the Undergraduate Program in Agrotechnology, Adrian Hilman, S.T.P., M.Sc., Ph.D.; as well as lecturers of the Undergraduate Program in Agrotechnology and Undergraduate Program in Food Technology, FP USU.

In his remarks, the Dean of FP USU welcomed the students from Universiti Malaya. He expressed his hope that the meeting would provide participants with opportunities to gain new experiences, build friendships, and open opportunities for future collaboration.

“In the future, you can collaborate; you can combine many innovative ideas to make something important. Welcome to Indonesia and the Faculty of Agriculture USU. Hopefully, you can build friendships with each other and gain learning experiences along the Summer Course to brighten the future,” said Dr. Rulianda.

According to him, interaction between students from the two institutions can serve as a space for sharing knowledge and ideas. The experience is expected to broaden students' perspectives while encouraging the emergence of innovative ideas in the fields of agriculture and food.

Meanwhile, Associate Prof. Dr. Rosazlin binti Abdullah from the Institute of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Science, Universiti Malaya, expressed her appreciation to FP USU as the host of the activity. She encouraged participants to take advantage of the Summer Course series as an opportunity to learn, share experiences, and build networks.

“Thank you very much to our host, the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara. I hope you can integrate your knowledge and share your experiences with each other. You are the future for our next generations. In these three days, please take this opportunity to learn, share, and build new friendships. No food, no people; no healthy food, no happy people,” she said.

She emphasized that the younger generation has an important role in addressing future challenges, including developing healthy and sustainable food systems. Therefore, participants are expected to utilize the Summer Course opportunity to enrich their knowledge while building positive academic and personal relationships.

The activity continued with a lunch gathering between students from Universiti Malaya and FP USU. The agenda provided an opportunity for participants to get to know one another and build closer relationships.

This welcoming activity was part of the 4th TALENTA-Agricultural Summer Course 2026, which carries the theme “Smart and Sustainable Agri-Food Systems: From Local Wisdom to Global Solutions.” Through this activity, FP USU continues to encourage the creation of cross-country learning experiences that strengthen students' perspectives while expanding international academic networks.

The implementation of this activity also supports SDG 4: Quality Education through strengthening learning experiences and knowledge exchange, as well as SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through strengthening academic relations and cooperation between Universitas Sumatera Utara and Universiti Malaya.
