JungFood Ex-Fest 4th 2026, organized by students of the Food Technology Study Program at the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara, served as a platform for creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurial development through food product exhibitions, talk shows, competitions, bazaars, and various entertainment performances under the theme “Culinary Time Capsule: Preserving Roots, Innovating Future.”

Students of the Undergraduate Food Technology Study Program at the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), successfully held JungFood Ex-Fest 4th 2026 (Jungle of Food Exhibition and Festival) on Monday, May 11, 2026, at the courtyard of the D.H. Penny Hall, Faculty of Agriculture, USU. Carrying the theme “Culinary Time Capsule: Preserving Roots, Innovating Future,” the event became a platform for creativity, innovation, and the development of entrepreneurial spirit among students in the field of food technology.

The event opened with a lively traditional welcoming dance to greet faculty leaders, lecturers, committee members, and talk show speakers. The program then continued with remarks from the Chairperson of JungFood Ex-Fest, Adrian Yudha Wardana, who explained that “JungFood” stands for Jungle of Food, symbolizing diversity, creativity, and innovation in the food industry.

“JungFood here does not mean unhealthy or low-nutrition food, but rather stands for Jungle of Food, which symbolizes diversity, creativity, and innovation in the world of food,” he stated.

He added that this year’s theme was expected to serve as a bridge between culinary heritage from the past and future food innovations.

The Chairperson of IMTP, Hanif Rizki Nurvandi, also stated in his remarks that JungFood is not merely an ordinary festival, but a collaborative platform for students to demonstrate creativity and innovation in food science development.

“This JungFood event is not just an ordinary festival, but a platform for all of us to showcase creativity and collaboration in the field of food science,” he said.

Appreciation for the event was also expressed by lecturer representative Dr. Wahyu Haryati Maser, STP., M.Si., who conveyed her pride in the students’ creativity and hard work in organizing such a large-scale event.

The Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture USU, Dr. Rulianda Purnomo Wibowo, SP., M.Ec., also encouraged students to continue improving their competitiveness through various competitions and scientific activities. He emphasized the importance of measuring one’s abilities beyond the campus environment through active participation in competitions, research, and the Student Creativity Program (Program Kreativitas Mahasiswa / PKM).

“Challenge yourselves by participating in competitions. Do not focus solely on achieving a high GPA, because through these activities we can measure our abilities compared to others,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the Vice Dean I of the Faculty of Agriculture USU, Dr. Nini Rahmawati, SP., M.Si., mentioned that JungFood is always a highly anticipated event because it presents a variety of interesting, diverse, and high-quality food products. According to her, the festival serves as an important platform for students to test consumer acceptance of their innovative food products while also learning entrepreneurship.

“I believe that several of the products displayed were created by Food Technology students, and this event provides a place to test how these products are received by consumers while also serving as an entrepreneurial learning experience for students,” she explained.

A representative of the Head of the Food Technology Study Program, Mimi Nurmimah, S.TP., M.Si., also expressed appreciation to all committee members for successfully organizing the event despite various challenges encountered during the preparation process.

In addition to product exhibitions and bazaars, JungFood Ex-Fest 4th 2026 also featured two inspiring talk show sessions. The first speaker, Adrian Hilman, S.T.P., M.Sc., Ph.D., presented material on innovation in food technology science amid modern developments and its impact on human life. Meanwhile, the second speaker, Yavariz, discussed the topic “Beyond the Barista,” providing insights into opportunities within the beverage industry and creativity in the field.

The event became even more lively with various entertainment performances, including vocal groups, solo saxophone performances, live music, student batch performances, as well as visits to the Food Technology Laboratory and bazaar tents. The event concluded with the presentation of awards to competition winners and a group photo session.

Through JungFood Ex-Fest 4th 2026, Food Technology students of FP USU are expected to continue developing creative, adaptive, and locally rooted food product innovations while also increasing awareness of the importance of preserving culinary heritage amid the advancement of modern food technology.
