The Faculty of Agriculture of Universitas Sumatera Utara extends congratulations and appreciation to the lecturers of the Faculty of Agriculture who have successfully obtained patent certificates for various innovative inventions, at a patent certificate awarding event organized by LIPIHKI USU and attended by inventors from all faculties within Universitas Sumatera Utara.

The Faculty of Agriculture of Universitas Sumatera Utara (FP USU) extends appreciation and congratulations to the lecturers of the Faculty of Agriculture who have successfully obtained patent certificates for various innovative inventions in the fields of agriculture, food, animal husbandry, and other supporting technologies.

 

The patent certificates were symbolically awarded by the Institute for Innovation and Intellectual Property Management (LIPIHKI) of Universitas Sumatera Utara and handed directly by the Rector of USU. This activity was part of the agenda for the awarding of patent certificates to inventors from all faculties within Universitas Sumatera Utara.

 

Amid these achievements, the Faculty of Agriculture USU recorded significant contributions from its lecturers who succeeded in producing inventions with high novelty value and potential for further development and downstream application for the benefit of society and the business sector.

 

Inventors of the Faculty of Agriculture USU Receiving Domestic Patent Certificates

The lecturers of the Faculty of Agriculture USU who received Domestic Patent Certificates include:

 

Prof. Ir. Hotnida Sinaga, M.Phil., Ph.D, with the inventions:

  • Red guava jelly drink (Psidium guajava L. Meer) crystal variety with the addition of konjac flour and citric acid

  • Dry noodles with the addition of wheat flour, carrot puree, and tofu dregs flour
    Ice cream containing butterfly pea flower extract (Clitoria ternatea) and durian seed flour (Durio zibethinus)

Dr. Nauas Domu Marihot Romauli, STP., M.Eng, with the inventions:

  • Process for making jelly candy from brewed dried arabica coffee husk water

  • Process for making sheet jam based on pumpkin with the addition of turmeric rhizome and granulated sugar

  • Process for making jelly drink from arabica coffee husk with the addition of sappan wood (Caesalpinia sappan L.) and natural sweetener stevia

Mimi Nurminah, STP., M.Si., with the inventions:

  • Process for making brewed arabica coffee drink (Coffea arabica) with the addition of commercial chicken eggshell flour

  • Process for making balakka fruit syrup (Phyllanthus emblica L.) with the addition of CMC and stevia extract

Dr. Nurjama’yah Br. Ketaren, S.Pt., M.Si., with the inventions:

  • Process for making natural antioxidants from fermented red galangal (Alpinia purpurata) to overcome stress in broiler chickens

  • Process for making synbiotics to stimulate growth and immunity of native chickens

Dr. Ir. Nurzainah Ginting, M.Sc., with the inventions:

  • Process for making high-quality corn straw silage for buffalo feed

  • Process for making local probiotics based on goat milk and bamboo gombon

  • Biodesinfectant formulation for controlling Staphylococcus aureus in dairy goat farming

Prof. Dr. Ir. Yunilas, MP, with the invention:

Method for producing liquid fertilizer for animal feed based on chitosan from Black Soldier Fly (BSF) shells

 

Ir. Galih Ari Wirawan Siregar, S.Pt., M.Si., IPM., CIT, with the invention:

Chitosan-based preservative from Black Soldier Fly pupal shells (Hermetia illucens) to improve post-harvest product quality

 

Dr. Ir. Nevy Diana Hanafi, S.Pt., M.Si., IPM, with the invention:

Ration formulation with the addition of porang tuber glucomannan extract as a prebiotic for broiler chickens

 

Ir. Ismed Suhaidi, M.Si., with the invention:

Marshmallow composition with the addition of chicken leg bone gelatin and date fruit extract (Phoenix dactylifera)

 

Nur Ulina Warnisyah Br. Sebayang, M.Agr, with the invention:

Black Garlic Assyifa Utsman Bin Affan

 

Foreign Patents

In addition to domestic patents, the Faculty of Agriculture USU also recorded achievements in foreign patents obtained by:

 

Prof. Ir. Hotnida Sinaga, M.Phil., Ph.D, with the invention titled
“Production Method of Palm Kernel Meal Sweet Sauce with Addition of Andaliman Extract”.

 

The Faculty of Agriculture USU hopes that this achievement can serve as motivation for other lecturers to continuously improve the quality of research and innovation, as well as to strengthen the role of the Faculty of Agriculture in supporting the vision of Universitas Sumatera Utara as a leading university at the national and international levels.
