The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara, has established a partnership with Baitulmaal Muamalat Sumut through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement on July 1, 2025. This collaboration aims to support productive waqf programs by involving academic expertise in the implementation of community empowerment activities.

The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FP USU), has officially established a partnership with Baitulmaal Muamalat (BMM) Sumatera Utara through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) held on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at the Dean’s Meeting Room of FP USU.

The signing ceremony was attended by the Dean of FP USU, Prof. Dr. Ir. Tavi Supriana, MS., Vice Dean III Prof. Dr. Ir. Elisa Julianti, M.Si., Head of the Partnership Subdivision, and staff. Representing Baitulmaal Muamalat were the Head of the North Sumatra Representative Office, Mr. Budi Syahputra, along with his team.

In her remarks, Prof. Tavi expressed FP USU’s readiness to support BMM’s various programs that require academic involvement. “The Faculty of Agriculture USU is ready to collaborate with Baitulmaal Muamalat in implementing its programs that involve academic expertise,” said Prof. Tavi.

Meanwhile, Mr. Budi Syahputra conveyed his hope that the partnership would contribute significantly, especially in managing waqf funds for productive programs. “In managing waqf funds for productive programs, Baitulmaal Muamalat needs support from academic experts—such as in producing briquettes from corn cobs or other innovations—while the Baitulmaal team will act as the implementation support team,” explained Mr. Budi.

This MoA signing marks the beginning of a partnership that is expected to be followed up with various implementable programs that benefit the wider community.
