The Undergraduate and Master’s Program in Animal Science, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FP USU), held the National Seminar on National Chicken and Egg Day 2025 on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, from 09.00 to 12.00 WIB at Soeratman Hall, FP USU, and via Zoom Meeting. This event was organized in collaboration with the Indonesian People’s Poultry Association (Pinsar Indonesia), the U.S. Soybean Export Council (USSEC), and supported by media partners such as Infovet Magazine, Trobos, Swadaya, Poultry Indonesia, Agrina, and Sinar Tani.
In his remarks, Ricky Bangsaratoe, S.H., from Pinsar Indonesia Central, expressed his appreciation.
“I would like to sincerely thank the USU Faculty of Agriculture for facilitating this national seminar. We all know that chicken and eggs are a healthy, nutritious, and affordable source of animal protein. Their contribution not only improves national nutrition but also opens job opportunities for Animal Science graduates as academics, practitioners, entrepreneurs, and innovators,” said Mr. Ricky.

Meanwhile, the Dean of FP USU, Prof. Dr. Ir. Tavi Supriana, MS., emphasized the role of chicken and eggs in food security.
“We are delighted and proud to welcome you at the Faculty of Agriculture USU. I hope this lecture can open students’ mindsets to contribute to Indonesia, especially in the food security program launched by the President. Chicken and eggs are our mainstay. With increasing consumption demand, it must be met at affordable prices for consumers, while also ensuring profitability for producers,” stated Prof. Tavi.
The seminar featured experienced speakers, namely Ricky Bangsaratoe, S.H. (Pinsar Indonesia Central), Ir. Bambang Suharno (Infovet Magazine) with the topic “Increasing Chicken and Egg Consumption and Its Impact on Animal Science Graduates,” and Ir. Alfred Kompudu, S.Pt., MM., IPM, ASEAN Eng. (USSEC) with the topic “Modern Poultry Production in Tropical Countries.”
Beyond scientific discussions, the event also marked a collaboration through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between the Faculty of Agriculture USU and Pinsar Indonesia North Sumatra. The MoA was signed by Prof. Tavi Supriana, MS., as Dean of FP USU, and Muhammad Bakhri, S.H., M.H., as Chair of Pinsar Indonesia North Sumatra.
The seminar atmosphere was highly interactive, with undergraduate and master’s students actively asking and answering questions. Several students even received prizes for successfully answering questions from the speakers.
“I hope this seminar serves as both inspiration and knowledge for students so that they can contribute significantly in the future to a modern, healthy, and sustainable national poultry sector,” added Mr. Ricky at the end of the session.
