MEDAN, 22 June 2026 – The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FP USU), has once again increased its number of doctoral graduates through the open doctoral promotion examination of Novriani Tarigan (Student ID: 208104005), which was held on Monday (22/6) in the USU IMT-GT Room in a hybrid format.

During the examination, Novriani defended her dissertation entitled “Development of Tinuktuk Beverage and Its Effects on Blood Glucose Levels, Antioxidant Status, Blood Lipid Profile, and Pancreatic Histopathological Features in Rats.” The research examined the potential of the traditional Tinuktuk beverage as a functional food that may provide health benefits, particularly in relation to blood glucose control, antioxidant status, lipid profile, and pancreatic health.

The open examination was chaired by Dr. Nini Rahmawaty, S.P., M.Si., Vice Dean I of the Faculty of Agriculture USU. The supervisory team consisted of Prof. Dr. Ir. Elisa Julianti, M.Si. as Promoter, Prof. Dr. Jansen S., M.App.Sc. as Co-Promoter, and Prof. Dr. Ir. Hotnida Sinaga, M.Phill. from BRIN as Co-Promoter. Also present was Prof. Dr. Ir. Lisa Mawarni, M.P., Secretary of the Doctoral (Ph.D.) Program in Agricultural Sciences.

Meanwhile, the examination committee consisted of Prof. Dr. Ir. Albiner Siagian, M.Sc., Prof. Dr. Ir. Zulkifli Lubis, M.App.Sc. from the Faculty of Agriculture USU, and Dr. Dian Herawati from IPB University.

Throughout the examination process, Novriani successfully presented her research findings and responded effectively to various questions and comments from the examiners. After completing all stages of the defense, Novriani Tarigan was declared to have passed with the distinction of Very Satisfactory and officially earned the title of Doctor (Dr.).

This achievement reflects the commitment of the Faculty of Agriculture USU to producing outstanding human resources and fostering innovative research that contributes to the advancement of knowledge, particularly in the fields of food technology and public health.
