On Wednesday, May 15, 2024, the Socialization of Innovation Product Standardization and Field Review of Andaliman Extract Innovation Products as a Preservative Food Additive was held at the DH Penny Building, USU Faculty of Agriculture. This event was organized by the Food and Drug Administration (BPOM) in the context of downstream innovative products and as one of the efforts to eradicate hazardous materials in food processing. Therefore, BPOM is assessing the safety and effectiveness of andaliman extract innovation products (researcher Prof. Dr. Ir. Elisa Julianti, M.Si). The assessment is carried out in the context of preparing product standards and approving the product as a new type of food additive.

The event was opened by the Dean of the USU Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Dr. Ir. Tavi Supriana, M.S. Several parties attended the event, including 5 food inventors from USU, the Head of the Medan City Industry, Small and Medium Enterprises Cooperative Office, the Head of the Medan City Health Office, the Head of the Medan City Food Security, Agriculture, and Fisheries Office, the Head of the Facilitation Team for Standardization of Safety, Quality, and Benefits of Processed Food and staff, and the Head of the POM Center in Medan.

It is hoped that the innovative product from Prof. Dr. Ir. Elisa Julianti, M.Si, can be approved soon and increase the enthusiasm of lecturers in the USU Faculty of Agriculture to work on producing innovative products.
