Medan, September 5, 2026 — Head of the Aquatic Resources Management Study Program (MSP), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), Dr. Ahmad Muhtadi Rangkuti, sent off 10 students to participate in an internship as part of the Learning Outside the Study Program (PLPS) Program at PT Juragan Dimsum on September 5, 2026. The send-off ceremony was held at the Juragan Dimsum Factory, Jalan Bunga Rampai II No. 19, Simalingkar B, Medan Tuntungan District, Medan, North Sumatra.
In his remarks, Dr. Ahmad Muhtadi Rangkuti emphasized that the PLPS internship is part of students’ preparation for entering the workplace, particularly for final-year students.
“This PLPS internship program is preparation for entering the workplace, particularly for final-year students,” he said.
He explained that the program is also important for strengthening students’ portfolios of practical experience in the industrial sector. Through direct involvement in company activities, students are expected to connect the knowledge gained through their coursework with field practices while developing their skills, discipline, and sense of responsibility.
The implementation of PLPS is in line with the spirit of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education. Learning experiences outside campus provide students with opportunities to develop skills relevant to workplace needs.
The program also contributes to SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth by enhancing students’ readiness to enter the professional sector. The internship experience is expected to help students understand the industrial environment, identify career opportunities, and develop competencies as preparation for employment after graduation.
The owner of Juragan Dimsum, Amrullah Angga Syahputra, welcomed the implementation of the program. He expressed the company’s readiness to expand its collaboration with higher education institutions.
“PT Juragan Dimsum and its business lines are ready to collaborate with universities, both through internship programs and other activities, such as research and community service,” said Amrullah.
Furthermore, he expressed his hope that the internship program would provide valuable experience for students while helping them identify potential career opportunities in the future.
The company’s openness to collaboration reflects the spirit of SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals through collaboration between higher education institutions and the business sector. Such partnerships create opportunities to connect education, research, and community service with actual needs in the field.
Through the PLPS internship, the MSP USU Study Program hopes that students will gain meaningful learning experiences while strengthening their readiness to enter the workplace. The collaboration with PT Juragan Dimsum is expected to continue developing in support of improving the quality of education and strengthening student competencies.
