Medan – FP USU: The Syngenta Goes to Campus Universitas Sumatera Utara event was successfully held with the theme “Bright Future in Syngenta, a Multinational Agricultural Company” at the Soeratman Hall, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (Wednesday, November 23, 2022).

This event began at 08:00 and lasted until 17:00 WIB. The event started with an opening speech from the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Ir. Tavi Supriana, MS. It was followed by the signing of the MoU between Syngenta and USU for the Internship Recruitment Program. The session was concluded with the exchange of souvenirs and a group photo session.

The event continued with a presentation by Midzon L. Johannis, the Head of Business Sustainability at Syngenta, who presented on the topic “Syngenta and Our Shared Responsibility to Develop Agriculture.” This was followed by the second presentation by Letran Silalahi, the Country Head of HR Indonesia, who spoke on the topic “HR Talk: Culture and People Development at Syngenta.” The third presentation was delivered by Arie Mirza Herlambang, the Lead Recruiter at Syngenta, who shared tips and tricks on how to pass the Syngenta recruitment process.

Additionally, Professor Ir. Edison Purba, Ph.D., a distinguished faculty member at the Faculty of Agriculture, USU, was invited as a guest speaker for the recruitment event, presenting on the topic “Sub-lethal Herbicide Doses Lead to Increased Weed Resistance.” The participants engaged enthusiastically throughout the event, with a quiz session offering prizes to further energize the recruitment process.

Syngenta also invited two alumni from the Faculty of Agriculture who now hold influential positions at Syngenta. They were Gamal Silalahi (NSM CP Demand Creation Manager) and Matin Purba (NSM Seed Regional Sales Manager). They conducted a Career Journey Talk Show for prospective employees, namely the Faculty of Agriculture students, who would later be selected to join Syngenta.

Finally, the awaited recruitment process took place. This included a written test via mobile phones for each participant. Later the same day, following the initial screening, the interview stage was conducted in person at the Soeratman Hall, Faculty of Agriculture.

This is the complete series of the Recruitment Internship Program carried out by Syngenta Goes to Campus Universitas Sumatera Utara. We hope this event serves as a platform for Syngenta to fulfill the slogan presented during the event: “Bright Future in Syngenta, a Multinational Agricultural Company.”
