Medan-USU: Following the success of Team Horas in creating an energy-efficient car, Electrical Engineering students at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) have innovated again by creating a second-generation electric car named Lamringan Proto and Lamjingar Urban. These two cars were created by students in the USU Asatama Team. The plans are to enter both cars in Malang's Energy Marathon Challenge (IEMC), competing in two different categories.
Dean of the USU Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Bustami Syam, during the launch of the two electric cars on Saturday, October 11, 2015, explained that the Asatama Team built these cars under the auspices of the Department of Electrical Engineering. “In Engineering, there are two teams; first, Team Horas creating an energy-efficient car, and second, Team Asatama creating electric cars. Last year, Asatama also participated in a similar contest and made it into the top five," he said. "We hope, in this participation, Team Asatama can achieve even better results. Thanks to sponsors and alumni who have helped a lot," he added.
Asatama Team Manager Rio Richard Simanjuntak explained that in this national event, Asatama will enter Lamringan Proto in the prototype class and Lamjingar Urban in the Urban Concept class. "We have improved the weaknesses in the first-generation car and conducted research to create more efficient vehicles," he said. He added that the electric cars created are completely emission-free. Both cars were then tested at USU, and in these trials, both performed well and are 100% ready to compete in the IEMC in Malang.
