Medan, June 21, 2026 – Students of the Animal Husbandry Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), successfully organized the USU Livestock Contest Festival 2026 on Sunday (June 21) at the Faculty of Agriculture USU. The event served as a platform to recognize livestock quality while also fostering the creativity and competencies of students in the field of animal husbandry.
The festival was officially opened by the Vice Dean I of the Faculty of Agriculture USU, Dr. Nini Rahmawati, S.P., M.Si. In her remarks, she expressed appreciation to the student organizing committee for successfully initiating an educational and innovative event as a form of implementing the knowledge gained during their studies.
This year, the USU Livestock Contest Festival featured four competition categories: Goat Contest, Sheep Contest, Rabbit Contest, and Guinea Pig Contest. These categories attracted great enthusiasm from participants, livestock enthusiasts, and members of the public who attended to watch the competitions.
The event also received special attention with the presence of the Regent of Asahan Regency, Taufik Zainal Abidin Siregar, S.Sos., M.Si., who directly reviewed the implementation of the contest. During his visit, he interacted with breeders and participants while observing the livestock commodities on display. The Regent’s presence demonstrated support for the development of the livestock sector and provided motivation for students and livestock business practitioners.
The series of activities of the USU Livestock Contest Festival 2026 concluded with the announcement of winners and the symbolic presentation of prizes to champions in each competition category. Through this event, the Faculty of Agriculture USU hopes to continue encouraging the emergence of a young generation that is competent, innovative, and competitive in the field of animal husbandry.
