The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), through its Master’s Program in Agribusiness, welcomed a visit from the Master’s Program in Agricultural Economics, Universitas Andalas (Unand), on Monday, November 3, 2025, at the Dean’s Meeting Room of the Faculty of Agriculture. The event, attended by lecturers and students from both universities, aimed to strengthen academic relations and foster collaboration in education, research, and community service through field studies and practical activities.

The Master’s Program in Agribusiness, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), received a visit from the Master’s Program in Agricultural Economics, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Andalas (Unand). The event, held on Monday, November 3, 2025, at 11.00 WIB in the Dean’s Meeting Room, Faculty of Agriculture, USU, was attended by lecturers and students from both universities.

 

The delegation from Universitas Andalas consisted of four lecturers from the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics, namely Dr. Ir. Nofialdi, M.Si. (Lecturer in Agricultural Industrial Management, Head of the Entrepreneurship and Career Development Unit), Dian Hafizah, S.P., M.Si. (Lecturer in Agricultural Economics, Head of the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics), Rika Hariance, S.P., M.Si. (Lecturer in Agribusiness Development, Secretary of the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics), one accompanying lecturer, and seven students of the Master’s Program in Agricultural Economics, as part of their field study and practicum activities.

 

From the USU Faculty of Agriculture, the event was attended by Prof. Dr. Ir. Tavi Supriana, M.S. (Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, USU), Prof. Dr. Ir. Elisa Julianti, M.Si. (Vice Dean III, Faculty of Agriculture, USU), Prof. Ir. Diana Chalil, M.Si., Ph.D. (Head of the Master’s Program in Agribusiness), Riantri Barus, S.P., M.Si., M.P. (Secretary of the Study Program), first- and third-semester Agribusiness master’s students, as well as representatives from the Subdivision of Research, Community Service, and Cooperation, along with the Public Relations Expert Staff of the Faculty of Agriculture.
 

 

In her remarks, Dian Hafizah provided an overview of the profile and human resources of the Department of Agricultural Socio-Economics at Universitas Andalas and explained the objectives of the field study activity.

“We brought third-semester students to conduct field studies and practical work so they can observe directly and gain broader insights beyond classroom learning. In addition, we aim to renew collaborations, such as in guest lectures, supervision, or the implementation of summer courses,” said Dian Hafizah.

 

The visit also featured a discussion and introduction session led by representatives from the Faculty of Agriculture, USU. Prof. Dr. Ir. Tavi Supriana, M.S., Dean of the USU Faculty of Agriculture, warmly welcomed the delegation from Universitas Andalas and expressed optimism for broader collaboration in the future.

“I am delighted to welcome our colleagues from Universitas Andalas to North Sumatra. Hopefully, this field trip will be beneficial and serve as the beginning of stronger collaboration. The Ministry has also opened opportunities for inter-institutional community service, and through forums like this, we can build even closer partnerships,” said Prof. Tavi.

 

The event was conducted in a warm and interactive atmosphere. Through this visit, it is hoped that the academic relationship between the USU Faculty of Agriculture and the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Andalas, will continue to grow stronger, particularly in the areas of teaching, research, and community service.
