Activities in the plantation sector have work rhythms and challenges that cannot always be fully represented through classroom learning. Through the Plug and Play program at PTPN IV Regional I, North Sumatra, students of the Undergraduate Program in Agrotechnology, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FP USU), participated in an internship as part of Learning Outside the Study Program (PLPS). This activity provided students with direct exposure to various agricultural activities within a professional work environment.
During the program, students were involved in various activities related to plantation sector management. Through these activities, students were able to recognize the flow of field activities while also observing how aspects of agricultural science are applied in work implementation. This provided a more concrete picture of agricultural management on an operational scale.
Not only observing the processes taking place, students also interacted with the work environment and various activities carried out throughout the program. This situation encouraged students to apply the knowledge they had acquired during their studies while developing work attitudes such as precision, responsibility, communication, and adaptability.
Participation in the Plug and Play program also enriched students' perspectives on the dynamics of the plantation sector and professional demands in the field of agriculture. Various findings and experiences gained during the activity are expected to serve as a foundation for students in determining their self-development steps and preparing to meet workforce needs after completing their education.
