Livestock Social Economics

Livestock Social Economics

Livestock Social Economics is a focus of study that integrates social and economic aspects in the context of animal husbandry. This program aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to understand the social and economic dynamics in the livestock sector, as well as how to maximize agricultural potential in a sustainable manner. Students taking this track will study economic theory, livestock business management, agribusiness, and livestock policy analysis. They will understand the relationship between economic and social factors and the success of livestock enterprises, marketing of livestock products, food safety, and farmers' welfare. The main objective of this scientific group is to train students to be able to analyze, plan, and manage livestock businesses with an approach that considers social and economic aspects. Students are also taught to understand consumption patterns, and consumer behavior related to livestock products, and identify market opportunities and effective marketing strategies. In addition, students will also understand the role of government and agricultural policies in addressing social and economic challenges in the livestock sector. They will learn the concepts of sustainability, ethics, and social responsibility in the context of modern animal husbandry. Livestock Production

Livestock Production

Livestock Production is a concentration that delves deeper into the management of maintenance, production, and livestock technology for various livestock commodities. The main focus is to understand the latest technological developments and sustainability aspects, with the aim of optimizing the utilization of local resources. Students in this specialization not only gain strong theoretical knowledge but also relevant practical skills in managing livestock production efficiently and sustainably. Course materials cover the selection of quality breeds, livestock growth management, feed planning, livestock health management, and reproductive management. Students will learn about best practices in livestock breeding, genetic selection, and control of diseases and health disorders affecting livestock. In this research group, students will also understand management aspects related to the livestock business, including budget planning, production cost calculation, and marketing strategies for livestock products. They will learn how to optimize the production of resources, such as land and labor, to achieve maximum results.
Feed Science and Technology

Feed Science and Technology

The concentration in Feed Science and Technology teaches about nutritional components, feed processing technology, and its impact on livestock productivity and product safety, along with the application of the latest science and technology in the field of feed science. Students in this concentration explore knowledge about optimal nutritional formulas, the latest technology in feed processing, and implementation strategies to increase livestock production by paying attention to the safety and sustainability aspects of feed products.

Learning Outcomes

Graduates of the USU Undergraduate Program in Animal Husbandry are capable of applying innovative science and technology in animal husbandry with logical, critical, systematic, and innovative thinking. With this ability, they are ready to develop livestock businesses independently and through group collaboration.

Learning Outcomes
1 Able to apply innovative logical, critical, and systematic thinking through the approach and implementation of animal science and technology in a disciplined, honest, and responsible manner.
2 Able to lead and manage, work together in teams, communicate, motivate themselves, and innovate in completing work in animal husbandry, which includes an attitude of responsibility for the achievement of group work results.
3 Able to supervise and evaluate the completion of work assigned to workers under their responsibility and manage learning independently.
4 Able to communicate effectively in teaching and counseling activities to the community, both in formal and informal institutions, by respecting cultural diversity, views, and opinions.
5 Able to disseminate science and technology in animal husbandry with concern for society and the environment.
6 Able to manage integrated livestock cultivation based on integration with plantations independently by mastering theoretical concepts about basic science, cultivation systems, and business management, including aspects of breeding and feeding to create a zero waste system.
7 Able to carry out animal husbandry business with the application of animal husbandry technology that pays attention to aspects of livestock welfare to produce optimal livestock productivity from upstream to downstream.
