The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), together with the Agri Sustineri Foundation (YASI) and Corteva Agriscience, held the Agristart Campus Challenge Inspiration Seminar on Monday, September 29, 2025, at the Suratman Hall, USU Faculty of Agriculture. The event aimed to foster innovation and entrepreneurship among agriculture students through inspirational sharing and experiences from agribusiness practitioners.

The Agri Sustineri Foundation (YASI), in collaboration with the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), and Corteva Agriscience, successfully held the Agristart Campus Challenge Inspiration Seminar on Monday, September 29, 2025, at the Suratman Hall, USU Faculty of Agriculture. This activity was a continuation of the Business Plan Competition series, which had been participated in by students from various study programs within the Faculty of Agriculture.

The seminar presented inspiring speakers, namely Fitria Debora from the Agri Sustineri Indonesia Foundation (YASI), John Situmeang from Corteva Agriscience, and Hasbi Husaini representing the farming community. The speakers shared their experiences and insights on business innovation in the agricultural sector and emphasized the importance of cultivating entrepreneurial spirit among students.

In her remarks, Prof. Dr. Ir. Tavi Supriana, M.S., Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, expressed her support for the event.
“We fully support the implementation of the Business Plan Competition and this Inspiration Seminar to further increase students’ interest in engaging in agribusiness ventures,” said Prof. Tavi.

Also present at the event were Adisti Novarinda, Treasurer of YASI, mentors, and judges of the Agristart Campus Challenge from YASI, Corteva, and the USU Faculty of Agriculture.

Meanwhile, John Situmeang from Corteva Agriscience also delivered a motivational message to participants.
“In the future, we hope that students will not only become workers in the agricultural sector but also be able to create job opportunities,” said Mr. John.

At the end of the event, it was announced that six out of eight teams that had submitted Business Plan proposals successfully passed and were entitled to proceed to the mentoring stage.

As part of a shared commitment to fostering agricultural innovation and student entrepreneurship, a cooperation agreement between YASI and the USU Faculty of Agriculture was also signed on the same day.
