The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) received a delegation of students from Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA), Malaysia, as part of the implementation of an international community service program in Cempa Village, Langkat Regency. This activity is part of strengthening international cooperation through collaborative community empowerment based on fisheries, livestock, and agriculture to support the realization of a sustainable, flood-resilient village. This program is also expected to strengthen the USU–UniSZA partnership and expand international service and research networks.

Medan, 23 June 2026 – The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) received a delegation of students from Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA), Malaysia, at the Food Technology Study Program Seminar Room on Tuesday (23/6). This visit is part of strengthening international cooperation in the field of community service.

The UniSZA delegation was welcomed by the Head of the Food Technology Study Program, Mimi Nurminah, S.TP., M.Si., together with Prof. Dr. Ir. Elisa Julianti, M.Si. as the Head of the Community Service Implementation Team, Adrian Hilman, S.T.P., M.Sc., Ph.D., and the Expert Staff of the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture USU.

The visit aimed to support the implementation of an international community service program entitled “Flood-Resilient Village Model through the Integration of Fish Farming, Livestock, and Agriculture Based on the Empowerment of Farmers, Livestock Breeders, and PKK Groups in Cempa Village, Langkat Regency.” This program adopts a multidisciplinary approach in strengthening the economic and environmental resilience of communities in flood-prone areas.

Through this program, UniSZA students and the academic community of the Faculty of Agriculture USU will collaborate in various community empowerment activities, including the development of fisheries, agriculture, and livestock farming, as well as strengthening the capacity of community groups and PKK.

The Head of the Food Technology Study Program, Mimi Nurminah, S.TP., M.Si., stated that this activity is part of the internationalization strategy of the Faculty of Agriculture USU through the implementation of the tri dharma of higher education that has a direct impact on society. In line with this, Prof. Dr. Ir. Elisa Julianti, M.Si., emphasized that the involvement of international students not only enriches academic and cross-cultural experiences but also opens opportunities for the development of research and community service networks between USU and UniSZA.

The activity, supported by the Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) USU, is expected to further strengthen the partnership between the two institutions and produce collaborative programs that contribute to the development of a resilient, independent, and sustainable society.
