(Stabat, Langkat) The impact of COVID-19 that hit Indonesia was felt in the Langkat Regency area. COVID-19 is a significant challenge faced by regional leaders, both national and regional, including the Langkat Regency. Langkat Regency experienced negative economic growth, which was -0.86%. When compared with other regions, this negative growth is still relatively small. Economic growth in Kabupaten Langkat was still driven by variable household consumption and increased commodity exports originating from Kabupaten Langkat.
As one of the tactical steps the Langkat District took, the Langkat District Government moved quickly to plan the 2023 local government work. The Langkat District Government held a Public Consultation Forum on the Initial Draft of the 2023 Regional Government Work Plan with the theme of Preparing HR Competencies and Improving Infrastructure Services to Support the Recovery of the Agriculture, Fisheries, and Tourism Sectors. The activity occurred on Monday, January 31, 2022, at the Langkat Regency Regent's Office.
This activity was opened directly by Plt. Regent of Langkat Regency, H. Syah Afandin, S.H. This activity invited three resource persons: the Head of BAPPEDA of Langkat Regency, Rina Wahyuni Marpaung, S.T.P., M.A.P., Head of the Central Bureau of Statistics of Langkat Regency, Ir. Tuti Hidayati, M.Si., and Head of the USU Agribusiness Study Program, Dr. Rulianda Purnomo Wibowo, S.P., M.Ec.
In his presentation, Dr. Rulianda Purnomo Wibowo emphasized the lack of connectivity to tourism centers and information about tourist destinations in Langkat Regency. In addition, it is necessary to develop agrotourism and fisheries tourism using a community-based tourism model that uses a pentahelix approach in carrying out these tourism business activities. The combination of the agriculture, fisheries, and tourism sectors can be a regional flagship product to restore the economy in Langkat Regency.
