The Faculty of Agriculture at Universitas Sumatera Utara welcomed students and lecturers from Tottori University, Japan, for an inbound program on February 19, 2025. As part of the visit, they participated in a traditional North Sumatran cooking class led by Prof. Elisa, strengthening academic collaboration.

The Faculty of Agriculture at Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) was one of the destinations for an inbound program attended by students and lecturers from Tottori University, Japan, on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. Their visit, accompanied by the DitIKG USU team, was warmly welcomed by the Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Dr. Ir. Elisa Julianti, M.Si.

The delegation from Tottori University consisted of one professor, two associate professors, and five students. The event was also attended by the DitIKG USU team, the Vice Dean II of the Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Dr. Ir. Elisa Julianti, M.Si., the Head of the Undergraduate Food Technology Program, Mimi Nurminah, S.TP., M.Si., as well as lecturers and students from the Food Technology program.

As part of their visit to the Faculty of Agriculture at USU, the Tottori University students and lecturers participated in a cooking class featuring Nani Ura, a traditional dish from North Sumatra. The session was led by Prof. Elisa, assisted by two Food Technology lecturers during the cooking demonstration.

The students and lecturers from Tottori University showed great enthusiasm during the class. They had the opportunity to learn about the various spices used, take part in the cooking process, and taste the Nani Ura dish.

Dr. Reiko Omoto stated, “Nani Ura has a unique and slightly spicy flavor, and it tastes delicious.”

Prof. Elisa also expressed, “Thank you to Tottori University for visiting us. The Faculty of Agriculture and the Food Technology program are honored by this visit. We hope this visit serves as the foundation for future collaboration between the Faculty of Agriculture at USU and Tottori University.”
