The Doctoral Program in Agricultural Science and the Master's Program in Food Science at the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara, held a public lecture on "Gut Health, Gut Microbiota, and the Role of Probiotics" on March 25, 2025, in a hybrid format. The event featured Prof. Dr. Ir. Endang Sutriswati Rahayu, MS as the keynote speaker, who discussed the role of probiotics and the importance of a healthy diet in maintaining microbiota balance in the body.

The Doctoral Program in Agricultural Science and the Master's Program in Food Science successfully held a public lecture on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at the D.H. Penny Hall, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara, in a hybrid format.

 

The lecture focused on the theme "Gut Health, Gut Microbiota, and the Role of Probiotics." The keynote speaker was Prof. Dr. Ir. Endang Sutriswati Rahayu, MS, a Professor in Food Microbiology from the Faculty of Food Technology, Universitas Gadjah Mada, and the Head of PUI-PT Probiotics UGM.

 

The event was officially opened by Prof. Luthfi A. M. Siregar, S.P., M.Sc, Ph.D, Head of the Doctoral Program in Agricultural Science, and was moderated by Prof. Dr. Ir. Hotnida Sinaga, M.Phil, Ph.D., Head of the Master's Program in Food Science. The public lecture was attended by several program secretaries, lecturers, and students, with a total of approximately 90 participants joining both online and offline.

 

During her presentation, Prof. Endang emphasized, "Probiotics play a crucial role in maintaining gut and digestive health, which is significantly influenced by dietary habits, especially fruit consumption."

It is hoped that this lecture will enrich participants' knowledge and awareness, encouraging them to adopt dietary habits that support gut health.
