Plant Protection Students from Universitas Andalas Conduct Field Study Visit to the Faculty of Agriculture, USU The Faculty of Agriculture, USU, welcomed a field study visit from students of the Undergraduate Program in Plant Protection at Universitas Andalas to strengthen learning experiences, broaden their knowledge of agricultural technology, and explore collaboration in education, research, internships, and community service. The activity also supported the achievement of SDG 4, SDG 9, SDG 15, and SDG 17. 08 September 2026

Supporting the SDGs, Head of MSP USU Sends Off 10 Students for PLPS Internship at PT Juragan Dimsum Ten students of the Aquatic Resources Management Study Program (MSP), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), participated in an internship through the Learning Outside the Study Program (PLPS) at PT Juragan Dimsum. The activity provides students with an opportunity to gain direct experience in the industrial sector, develop their competencies, and prepare themselves for the workplace. The program also strengthens collaboration between higher education institutions and the business sector in support of SDG 4, SDG 8, and SDG 17. 08 September 2026

MSP Students of FP USU Receive APRI YOUTH Funding through Research on Sustainable Blue Swimming Crab Fisheries Management Students of the Aquatic Resources Management Study Program (MSP), Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FP USU), have successfully secured funding for the APRI YOUTH – Sustainable Trace proposal through research on sustainable blue swimming crab fisheries management and marine mammal interactions in Kwala Gebang, Langkat. This achievement supports SDG 4: Quality Education by strengthening students’ research competencies and SDG 14: Life Below Water through the development of sustainable aquatic resource management practices. 08 September 2026

Head of the Aquatic Resources Management Study Program, FP USU, Sends Off Students for PLPS at YAGASU The Aquatic Resources Management Study Program (MSP), Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara, sent off students to participate in the Learning Outside the Study Program (PLPS) at YAGASU. The activity serves as a means of strengthening competencies through field experience in aquatic resource management, coastal ecosystem conservation, mangrove rehabilitation, and community empowerment. The collaboration between USU and YAGASU also opens opportunities for developing cooperation in internships, research, community service, and environmental conservation, while supporting the achievement of the SDGs, particularly SDG 4, SDG 13, SDG 14, SDG 15, and SDG 17. 07 September 2026

Strengthening Competencies through Hands-On Practice, Agrotechnology Students of FP USU Undertake Field Internships at the PTPN IV Regional II Oil Palm Seed Center Students of the Undergraduate Program in Agrotechnology, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara, undertook a Field Internship (PKL) at the Oil Palm Seed Center of PT Perkebunan Nusantara IV Regional II. The activity provided students with hands-on experience in oil palm plantation management and nursery practices while strengthening their technical skills, discipline, sense of responsibility, and professional readiness. The activity also supports SDG 4, SDG 8, SDG 12, and SDG 15 through practice-based learning and exposure to sustainable plantation management. 07 September 2026

Implementation of the Partnership between USU and PT Perkebunan Nusantara IV Regional I, Sei Putih Plantation Unit: Undergraduate Program in Agrotechnology Sends Students for Field Internships The Undergraduate Program in Agrotechnology, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara, conducted online supervision of students’ Field Internships at PTPN IV Regional I, Sei Putih Plantation Unit. The activity formed part of the implementation of the partnership between USU and PTPN IV to provide students with practical experience in oil palm cultivation, plantation management, and the application of agricultural technology, while ensuring the achievement of learning outcomes throughout the Field Internship. 07 September 2026

Karya Hevea Indonesia, Dolok Masihul Plantation Unit Students from the Agrotechnology Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara, undertook a Field Internship (PKL) at PT. Karya Hevea Indonesia, Dolok Masihul Plantation Unit, to gain practical experience in oil palm plantation management. The activity provided insights into cultivation, plant maintenance, environmental management, and the implementation of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), while strengthening students’ competencies, professionalism, and readiness to enter the workforce. 07 September 2026

TANBIO-BAG USU Team Secures 2026 PKM-K Funding, Introduces Biodegradable Polybags Made from Agricultural Waste The TANBIO-BAG team from Universitas Sumatera Utara has secured funding through the 2026 Student Creativity Program for Entrepreneurship (PKM-K) with an innovation featuring biodegradable polybags made from oil palm empty fruit bunch (EFB) biochar and rice husk ash. Developed at the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara, the innovation transforms agricultural waste into a useful and environmentally friendly product while encouraging student creativity and entrepreneurship. 07 September 2026
