USU Academic Senate Visits the Faculty of Agriculture, Discusses Academic Strengthening and Partnerships The Faculty of Agriculture USU received a visit from the USU Academic Senate to discuss the faculty's development and future direction, including academic strengthening, faculty human resources, research, laboratories, innovation, and partnerships with industry and the government. This activity served as a forum for dialogue and joint evaluation to support the improvement of education quality and the achievement of the SDGs. 03 September 2026

MSP USU and Regal Springs Indonesia Research Pora-pora Fish Habitat to Support Sustainable Management in the Lake Toba Area The Undergraduate Program in Aquatic Resources Management (MSP) of the Faculty of Agriculture USU, together with Regal Springs Indonesia, conducted research on the habitat and ecological conditions of pora-pora fish in the Pangaloan Ail River and Sibaruang River. This research was conducted to obtain scientific data as a basis for the sustainable management of fisheries resources and the Lake Toba ecosystem. 03 September 2026

Supporting Downstreaming & SDGs: Community Service by the Faculty of Agriculture USU Modernizes the Livestock Industry in Asahan Regency through Band Meat Cutter Technology The Community Service Team of the Faculty of Agriculture USU, together with the Government of Asahan Regency and Ubay Farm, is promoting the modernization of sheep farming through the application of carcass cutting technology, improved hygiene, and diversification of processed products. The program also involves students and supports increased farmers' income and the achievement of SDGs 1, 2, and 8. 03 September 2026

Faculty of Agriculture USU Lecturer Utilizes Rice Straw as Animal Feed to Support Sustainable Agriculture A lecturer of the Undergraduate Program in Animal Science, Faculty of Agriculture USU, conducted a community service activity in Batu Malenggang Village, Langkat Regency, through the utilization of rice straw as animal feed using fermentation technology. This activity is an effort to reduce waste and environmental pollution while supporting sustainable agriculture and the zero-waste concept, in line with SDG 2 and SDG 15. 03 September 2026

Campus and Plantation Synergy: Contribution of USU Agriculture Students' Field Work Practice to Sustainable Palm Oil and Excellent Competence at PTPN IV Regional II, Gunung Bayu Plantation The Undergraduate Program in Agrotechnology of the Faculty of Agriculture USU carried out Field Work Practice (PKL) at PTPN IV Regional II, Gunung Bayu Plantation, Simalungun. This activity provided students with direct experience in oil palm cultivation techniques while strengthening their competence, work readiness, and partnership between higher education institutions and industry. 01 September 2026

Agrotechnology Student of the Faculty of Agriculture USU Achieves Outstanding Results in National and International Taekwondo Championships Firman Frananta Sebayang, a student of the Undergraduate Program in Agrotechnology, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FP USU), successfully achieved outstanding results in various national and international Taekwondo championships throughout April–June 2026. Firman won two gold medals at the Malaysia Open 2026, a bronze medal at Ksatria Nusantara 2026, and Second Place at the SUMUT National Taekwondo Championship 2026. This achievement demonstrates that students of the Faculty of Agriculture USU can develop their potential and achieve accomplishments not only in academics but also in sports, while bringing pride to USU at the national and international levels. 31 August 2026

USU–ATR/BPN Deli Serdang Strengthen Smallholder Dairy Goat Farming through Feed Innovation and Animal Welfare-Based Housing Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), through the Faculty of Agriculture, together with ATR/BPN Deli Serdang Regency, is strengthening smallholder dairy goat farming in Sambirejo Timur through locally sourced fermented feed innovations and improvements to animal welfare-based housing. The initiative is expected to increase productivity, efficiency, business sustainability, and farmers’ welfare through synergy among universities, government, and communities. 28 August 2026

Agribusiness Student of FP USU Wins Bronze Medal, Helps USU Seminar Team Secure Two Gold Medals at International Event T. Muhammad Rifky Azhar, an Agribusiness student of FP USU, won the Bronze Medal in the Best Effort for Mix Group category at the 25th IMT-GT Varsity Carnival 2026, while also being part of the USU seminar team that secured two Gold Medals in the Best Presentation and Best Paper categories. 28 August 2026

USU PKL Supervision at PTPN IV Regional II Strengthens Student Competence and Work Readiness Field internship supervision for students of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), at PTPN IV Regional II Bandar Klippa Plantation strengthened experiential learning through direct involvement in oil palm maintenance. The activity supported the development of technical competence, professionalism, and work readiness while strengthening USU’s partnership with industry in support of SDG 4, SDG 8, and SDG 17. 28 August 2026

Implementation of Student Field Work Practice (PKL) at PTPN IV Regional II Berangir Plantation Mahasiswa Agroteknologi Fakultas Pertanian USU melaksanakan Praktik Kerja Lapangan (PKL) selama satu bulan di PTPN IV Regional II Kebun Berangir. Kegiatan supervisi PKL dilaksanakan secara daring pada 27 Juli 2026 sebagai bagian dari monitoring dan evaluasi, sekaligus memperkuat keterkaitan pembelajaran akademik dengan praktik dunia kerja. Kegiatan ini mendukung pencapaian SDG 4 (Pendidikan Berkualitas) dan SDG 8 (Pekerjaan Layak dan Pertumbuhan Ekonomi). 28 August 2026
