Strengthening Laboratory Safety Culture, FP USU Holds “Safe Laboratory, Healthy Researcher” Webinar The Soil Chemistry and Biology Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara, organized the “Safe Laboratory, Healthy Researcher” webinar on September 5, 2026, attended by more than 290 participants. The activity aimed to enhance understanding and awareness of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) practices to create a safe, healthy, orderly laboratory environment that supports quality education and research. 07 September 2026

Ora Iso USU Team Wins 2nd Place in Scientific Writing Competition at PIMPI IPB 2026 The Ora Iso Team, comprising students from various faculties at Universitas Sumatera Utara, won 2nd Place in the Scientific Writing Competition (LKTI) at PIMPI IPB 2026. This achievement demonstrates students’ enthusiasm for developing scientific ideas through cross-disciplinary collaboration while supporting SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). 07 September 2026

CollaCel USU Team Wins Best Essay Expo at PIMPI IPB 2026 The CollaCel Team from the Food Technology Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara, won Best Essay Expo at PIMPI IPB 2026 through COLLASHIELD, an active packaging innovation based on fish collagen and corn nanocellulose designed to reduce tomato food loss. This achievement demonstrates students’ creativity and innovation in supporting quality education and partnerships for sustainable development. 07 September 2026

Prof. Dato Seri Ashraf Bakar Encourages the Transformation of Traditional Livestock Farming into Sustainable Agribusiness Prof. Dato Seri Ashraf Bakar, Founder & CEO of Aliyah Rizq Holdings, shared insights on transforming traditional livestock farming into a modern and sustainable agribusiness model in ASEAN during the International Public Lecture organized by FP USU. The presentation discussed feed innovation, the Integrated Crop-Livestock System (ICLS), as well as opportunities for research and industry collaboration in developing sustainable livestock production. 06 September 2026

Undergraduate Program in Animal Science and Master’s Program in Animal Science, FP USU, Hold International Public Lecture on Sustainable Livestock Production in ASEAN The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara, through the Undergraduate Program in Animal Science and Master’s Program in Animal Science, held an International Public Lecture discussing sustainable livestock development in ASEAN, covering feed innovation, animal health, and agribusiness. The activity was also accompanied by the signing of an Implementation Agreement (IA) to strengthen international collaboration. 06 September 2026

10th IC-AEFS 2026 Strengthens Synergy between Green Economy and Agro-Innovation for Sustainable Food Security The Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FP USU), organized the 10th IC-AEFS 2026 as an international forum to strengthen collaboration, research, and innovation in agriculture, the environment, and food security. Under the theme “Synergizing Green Economy and Agro-innovation to Enhance Food Security and Environmental Sustainability,” the conference featured national and international keynote speakers and supported the achievement of the SDGs, particularly SDGs 2, 12, 13, 15, and 17. 06 September 2026

Food Technology Study Program, FP USU, and Stakeholders Strengthen Fish Stock Assessment in WPPNRI 571 The Aquatic Resources Management Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara, together with MSC Indonesia, UPP WPPNRI 571, and various stakeholders, strengthened sustainable fisheries management through fish stock assessment in WPPNRI 571. The series of activities also included the signing of an MoA between FP USU and PPS Belawan, data analysis training, and the formulation of science-based recommendations to support sustainable fisheries resource management. 05 September 2026

CollaCel Food Technology Team from USU Enters TOP 10 Finalists of PIMPI 2026 The CollaCel Team from the Food Technology Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara, has advanced to the TOP 10 Finalists of PIMPI 2026 with COLLASHIELD, an active packaging innovation based on fish collagen and corn nanocellulose designed to reduce tomato food loss. The innovation utilizes fisheries and agricultural waste as value-added materials while supporting food security and sustainable development through the SDGs. We wish the CollaCel Team success in achieving the best possible result and becoming the top finalist of PIMPI 2026. 05 September 2026

USU’s Community Service Program in a Partner Village Supports SDG Achievement through Piped Water Infrastructure and Environmental Conservation to Address Drought in Habeahan Village Through the 2026 Partner Village Community Service Program, the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (FP USU), is optimizing a hillside water source in Habeahan Village, Humbang Hasundutan Regency, by developing a piped water network. The program provides access to clean water for 22 households while promoting environmental conservation through tree planting and community empowerment to strengthen the village’s resilience to drought. 04 September 2026
